Are you passionate about making a difference to our planet? Lawyers for Human Rights (LHR) wants YOU to join our Young Voices 4 Climate Justice Advisory Team! With the help of Terre des Hommes, we’re kicking off a two-year project, and you will have an exciting opportunity to give it a name. Our goal is to make sure children and youth like you have a say in how we protect our environment and fight climate change here in South Africa.
As part of our project, we’ll be doing cool work like making handbooks, holding trainings, and creating fun learning materials about climate change and ways in which YOU can participate on processes to influence policy. We also plan to invite you along to a meeting with important decision-makers in Gauteng to share your ideas, and to have an art exhibition to show how climate change affects children and youth.
We’re looking for 4 children (between the ages of 10 and 17 years old) and 4 youths (between the ages of 18 and 25 years old) to be on our special advisory team.
What will you do?
Well, you’ll get to attend meetings with us (don’t worry, not too many!) and help us plan all the awesome activities. Plus, by the end of our project, we would have learnt together how we can make sure children and youth like YOU are heard when it comes to climate justice!
Who qualifies?
We want to hear from kids and teens aged 10 to 25 who live in Gauteng, especially those in mining-affected communities, are passionate climate justice activists, and are committed to forming part of the advisory team for a period of two years.
If you care about the environment, children’s rights, and love art, we want YOU on our team!
