Her Document: Her Dignity | “If I had a Document”: Black Women’s Stories of Statelessness

Date: 04/04/2025

Intro paragraph:

Statelessness is a profound human rights violation, leaving millions at risk of exclusion and marginalisation due to a lack of citizenship and legal identity. It affects both men and women but it is not experienced equally. Women are disproportionately affected, both in becoming statelessness and in the consequences they face when stateless. The Her Document: Her Dignity campaign was born from the need to illuminate these injustices. This campaign tells the stories of Black women and their families navigating a system that denies them the very foundation of legal and social belonging. Statelessness is not an inevitability. It is a human-made injustice that can and must be undone. The Her Document: Her Dignity campaign is a call to action.
