During its 68th Ordinary Session, the African Commission on Human and Peoples Rights mandated the Special Rapporteur of Refugees, Asylum Seekers, Internally Displaced Persons and Migrants in Africa, Hon. Maya Sahli Fadel, to developed a Study on African responses to the question of migrants and the protection of migrants in Africa as well as Guiding Principles on the Human Rights of all migrants.
Recognising that South Africa, as the largest host of migrants on the continent, has a key role to play in the African Commission on Human and Peoples Rights’ objective to protect and realise the rights of migrants in Africa, LHR presented the following submissions on the draft Study on African Responses to the Question of Migrant and the Protection of Migrants in African and the Guiding Principles on the Human Rights of all Migrants.
